Introduction

If you are taking a family vacation to Europe, one of your concerns may be which attractions would be interesting and suitable for children. The good news is that there are plenty of places that will capture their fascination and imagination, and many of them are conveniently located near hotel accommodations so they won’t be tired out by a long trip.

The Planetarium

The Planetarium houses powerful telescopes, well crafted exhibits, and trained guides who know how to bring the facts to life in a simple and engaging manner. Children will be fascinated by the brilliant colors and interesting images of outer space, and may even participate in science activities that are frequently organized by the management.

The London Dungeon

Located at the heart of London, lies the world’s scariest horror attraction: the London Dungeon. Aside from vivid exhibits, true-to-life sound effects, and fascinating stories of London’s dramatic past, The London Dungeon also has interactive displays like mazes and labyrinths. The London Dungeon is suited for children aged four and above.

Natural History Museum and London Zoo

Children love animals, and they’ll see many of them (including recreations of long-extinct species) at the Natural History Museum and the London Zoo. One of the major exhibits is an animatronic T-Rex that shows children how the dinosaur may have prowled through the primitive jungles. There are also rare species of birds and lizards, the requisite bears and lions—truly “all things wise and wonderful, all creatures big and small.” If you time your visit correctly, you can arrive just in time to see the animals being fed.

With all the attractions at the Natural History Museum and London Zoo, it is best to set aside several hours in order to explore it. Right outside the venues are several restaurants where you and your family can take refreshments before proceeding to the next leg of your tour.
